Effective August 1, 2022, increased costs in shipping and packaging materials have forced us to rethink how we charge for shipping. After much thought and consideration, we have opted to add a COLD PACK FEE of $5 for every package that requires ice and insulation. One charge per order. There are no other increases in our shipping charges at this time.
EFFECTIVE AUGUST 1, 2022.
These are uncertain economic times. One thing we know for sure is that costs are rising for all of us. We spend more today to buy the foods we sell and to ship them to our customers than we did one year ago. Increases in fuel, grain, meat packing material and just about every other aspect of the process have forced us to adjust our costs in order to stay in business.
We have raised the price of many of our items to reflect the rising production expenses, but one of the biggest drivers of rising cost for us has been the expense associated with shipping perishable foods using insulated cooler boxes, lined pouches and gel ice packs. Those extra packaging materials cost more, the final packages are larger, heavier and cost more to ship. We have thought at length about this challenge. So rather than raise the price of every perishable item, we have opted to add a single COLD PACK FEE of $5 for each package that requires ice and insulation. It is our sincere hope that as costs decline (particularly gas prices) we might be able to reduce or eliminate this fee.
