Vendor Info Patchwork was established in 1982 by Margaret Carter, a talented, although untrained home cook, who found herself divorced with three children. With an initial start-up cost of just 9 British pounds, she began selling her home made pates to pubs in nearby Llangollen, Wales. As Margaret attracted more customers and the business grew, she moved out of her house to a factory designed for making pate in 1987 in Ruthin, Wales.
Today, Patchwork has become a powerful force in the specialty food trade in the UK, voted the most popular independent food supplier. The range of products now includes fish, duck, and venison liver pates, hummus, vegetarian spreads, chocolate terrines and even ice cream. Everything is still made by hand in small batches by a dedicated team of 30 Patchworkers lead by Rufus Carter, Margaret's capable and handsome son. Margaret herself made the first batches for us here in the USA to make certain it was up to her demanding standards. Scottish Gourmet is proud to be the US distributor for Patchwork pates here in America.
